Review 582: Compagnie Des Indes Caraibes 3 Year

Time to taste another malternative (or at least find out if it qualifies as one). This time it’s a blended rum from Compagnie Des Indes. It is a blend of 50% Trinidad, 25% Barbados and 25% Guyana rum. Sadly this rum is coloured with E150-a and has 15g/l added sugar to it. The rum world has much to learn when it comes to a natural presentation of their products.

Review 321: Hooghoudt Gelagerde Jenever 18 Year

This is no whisky! that’s right it’s an aged Genever that has been maturing on Oloroso sherry casks and is made by Hooghoudt. It is not yet on the market (probably mid October 2015) but the Whisky Club Groningen had a change to taste it already.

I tastes some other Genevers in my time. The problem with most Genevers is that on the nose they promise lovely flavors but they never seem to deliver.
So let’s see how this smells and if it delivers on the palate.
