Review 630: Girvan 1992 23 Year

Last Sunday we had our first Whisky Club Groningen gathering in our clubhouse Cafe de Toeter in Groningen. Traditionally we have a left-overs day (everybody bring some bottles that are limping on their last leg) which each year seems to result in the mass murder of bottles. Review 497: Port Dundas 1988 25 Year

Today I visited the newest appointed Ardbeg Embassy in The Netherlands, Slijterij Frans Muthert in Musselkanaal. Aeilke Muthert welcomed me warmly and straight away offers me a dram to taste. Before I knew it there where 3 glasses in front of me ofwich this Port Dundas was the first. I didn’t know that at the time as Aeilke always offers me samples to taste blindly, just to keep it fair.

Review 422: Invergordon 1972 43 Years

To celebrate the 70.000th whisky in the Whiskybase.com database they bottled this 43 year old Single Grain whisky under their own label and put it on the market for “just” €145.-, which is quite cheap in today’s hyper tense whisky market.

Sadly all bottles where sold out within an hour or so of the announcement. I was lucky enough to get a 10cl sample in a bottle share. I have already tasted some old grain whisky’s and they can be quite charming.

Review 311: Port Dundas 26 Year

My eye also caught this 26 year old Port Dundas (and two other interesting ones to be reviewed later). It’s offered at 43% and you can select your own bottle size. I opted for a small 10cl bottle to taste this. The only thing I miss is the details about this expression there is no mention of the distillation year, chill filtration, colouring, etc. That would give it an extra dimension for me.
