Review 322: Arran 14 Year “The White Wizard”
This “The White Wizard” is a part of a set of two Private Cask bottles from Arran for the Dutch market. The other one is called “The Dark Lord”, but you can read about that one in our next review. With some imagination the Harry Potter reverence is soon forgotten and the American white oak barrel and the Sherry cask can explain the names of these two drams.
The White Wizard is a 14 year old whisky that was matured in a ex-bourbon barrel and is bottled at hefty 56.7% and of course there is no chill filtration or colouring. The turnout of this cask is 210 bottles.
On to the good part: sniffing and tasting.

This is a fruity fruit bomb, my god does this have a lot of berry flavors in it. Overall it’s a very balanced, fresh and lush dram that packs some power in it. I now understand the name chosen for the dram, it indeed is a White Wizard!
For me this would be the perfect hot summer night dram. Well selected cask and good quality spirit, well done!
