Review 494: Strathisla 2005

There is yet another Gordon & MacPhail expresion in my glass. This timeframe a new distillery for me. The Strathisla 2005 is bottled in 2015 at 43% and has matured in First fill Sherry hogsheads. The casks seem not to be that active as the colour of this dram is quite light. In the last view weeks I’ve gotten more and more interested in the whisky’s from Gordon & MacPhail as they seem to be able to get whisky’s on the market that have a classy, elegant and old fashioned feel to it. They are doing something right.

Review 489: Longmorn 2002/2015

And then there is another Longmorn in my glass, a distillery I have come to appreciate for there lovely (and mostly waxy) whisky. Especially the older Longhorns from first fill sherry casks can be mesmerizingly good. This one is matured in 1st Fill Sherry Hogsheads for something between 12 and 13 years.
