Review 321: Hooghoudt Gelagerde Jenever 18 Year

This is no whisky! that’s right it’s an aged Genever that has been maturing on Oloroso sherry casks and is made by Hooghoudt. It is not yet on the market (probably mid October 2015) but the Whisky Club Groningen had a change to taste it already.

I tastes some other Genevers in my time. The problem with most Genevers is that on the nose they promise lovely flavors but they never seem to deliver.
So let’s see how this smells and if it delivers on the palate.

Recensie 291: Chateau du Tariquet Le Legendaire

Domaine du Tariquet wordt inmiddels geleid door de derde generatie wijnmakers, na Armagnac producent Pierre Grassa en zijn zoon Yves. Toen Yves Grassa 25 jaar geleden druivensoorten als chardonnay en sauvignon blanc aanplantte op de wijngaarden van zijn vader, vreesde Pierre dat hij de rest van zijn leven onverkoopbare wijnen van zijn zoon Yves zou moeten drinken. Maar het liep anders. De witte en rosé wijnen van Domaine du Tariquet in de Gascogne zijn wereldwijd een groot succes. Belangrijkste factoren: een toegewijde familie en de allernieuwste technieken.
