Review 601: Glenfarclas 175th Anniversary Chairman’s Reserve

A while back we (3 friends and me) had a monster tasting Saturday. We where supposed to select the odd few bottles/samples from our collection to let the others taste it. And as it turned out everybody had great trouble selecting the “few” bottles from their collection . So we ended up with a table filled with bottles and samples and had a hard time shifting through them all to select the ones to taste (oh well, life sucks).

Review 493: Tobermory 1972 32 Year

When I visited my local liquor store today the owner, Thijs Dijkstra, offered me a change to nose and taste a dram from his private collection. This is his all time favorite dram and after saying that I couldn’t resit. This 32 year old Tobermory was distilled in 1972 and has been finished in Oloroso sherry casks. It’s bottled at cask strength of 50.1% and is non-chill filtered and has a natural colour.

Review 427: Bunnahabhain 1968 41 Year

I finaly had the change to translate this review into English. So now it’s ready to re-share it with you again.
This was distilled at Bunnahabhain in 1968 and bottled at the age of 41 years (aged in European oak casks 2) by Adelphi in 2010. The result is a thick, viscous, concentrated and very dark complex whiskey.

Review 414: Glen Grant 1953 58 Year

Normale I wait a little with publishing my notes to do some more research on the bottle but this time I can’t wait. I’m too excited so I had to publish it.

This whisky made a huge shift in my rating system and now I have to re-rate all my whisky’s that I have tasted so far. If I would rate it according my current system I would almost certainly end up with a score like 12.9/10. Since that is a bit unrealistic I will score it but keep in mind al of my other ratings should be approximately 1.5 or 2.0 points lower after tasting this beauty.

Recensie 285: Caperdonich 1972 36 Year

Recensie 164: Yoichi 1988 Heavily Peated
